“Detox Therapy: On the Path to Official Recognition as a System of Medicine in India”
Introduction:
In a significant development for the field of holistic health, the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (Department of Health Research), Government of India, has scheduled a pivotal meeting to examine the proposal for recognition of Cleansing Therapy as a formal system of medicine.
On 16th July 2025, the Inter-Departmental Committee (IDC) will convene at the Department of Health Research in New Delhi to assess the proposal submitted by the Temple of Healing. This proposal aims to establish Cleansing Therapyas a scientifically validated and recognized alternative system of medicine.
The IDC has outlined a structured approach for this evaluation, based on criteria set by the Ministry. The representatives of Temple of Healing have been invited to present their case, respond to committee queries, and demonstrate how Cleansing Therapy aligns with the established criteria.
The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare has defined two key categories of criteria for evaluating alternative systems of medicine — Essential Criteria and Desirable Criteria.
Unique Philosophy: The system must have distinct health and disease principles, differing from existing recognized systems.
Documented Literature: Availability of textbooks, pharmacopoeia, and journals covering concepts, diagnosis, and treatment methods.
Global Recognition: It should be officially recognized in its country of origin or in countries where it's practiced.
Distinct Treatment Methods: Evidence of unique treatment approaches such as drugs, diet, massage, or other modalities.
Standardized Practices: Well-defined methods for preparation of drugs/devices and stringent quality control processes.
Educational Framework: Details of training, admission criteria, and lists of recognized teaching institutions.
Continuous Learning & Research: Availability of continuing education programs and research facilities.
Cleansing Therapy, as promoted by the Temple of Healing, has consistently demonstrated its focus on detoxification, holistic healing, and prevention of chronic diseases. The upcoming presentation will seek to establish:
Its unique approach in comparison to conventional and other alternative therapies.
The body of literature, documented methodologies, and evidence-based protocols developed over time.
Its global acceptance and usage in various health and wellness communities.
The distinctiveness of its detoxification techniques and standardized treatment processes.
Recognition by the Government of India will mark a transformative milestone — legitimizing Cleansing Therapy, opening avenues for research, education, and integration into mainstream healthcare.
This step could also serve as a benchmark for other emerging alternative therapies seeking recognition and acceptance within India’s diverse healthcare ecosystem.
The outcome of this IDC meeting could redefine how preventive and holistic health practices are perceived and practiced across India. As the world increasingly leans toward natural healing systems, Detox Therapy stands at the cusp of an important breakthrough.
We await the results with great anticipation, hopeful that this will usher in a new era for holistic healthcare in India.
